3.8) Default Environment On ARC2

There are usually several modules loaded by default. For instance, when you first login to ARC2, executing the module list command will return:

$ module list

Currently Loaded Modulefiles:
  1) licenses           3) bit/64             5) openmpi/1.6.5
  2) sge                4) intel/13.1.3.192   6) user

It is possible to change the set of modules loaded automatically at login, by editing the startup file, ~/.bashrc (recall that ~ is shorthand for $HOME directory). However, as some of the default modules set some important system defaults, caution is advised if removing any of the default modules. A brief description of the default modules is given below.
