1.1) What MATLAB can do

Here are some examples of what you can do with MATLAB:

  • Data Processing - MATLAB can load a wide range of data formats. Within MATLAB, scripts can be developed to conduct a multitude of operations on the data such as regridding, interpolation and extrapolation, conduct statistical tests, as well as gather and produce data for tables and reports.
  • Data Visualization - MATLAB offers a rich spectrum of tools to enable you to produce graphical representations of your data. There are simple 2D plotting tools, tools for image processing, as well as sophisticated 3D visualization functions. MATLAB is capable of producing publication-quality figures.
  • Model Development - MATLAB is built upon a substantial and sophisticated set of mathematical tools. Complex models can be built quickly and debugged within a powerful development environment.

The remaining pages in this section show example graphics outputs from each of these tasks.
