12.7) Saving Figures
Figures can be saved in a number of formats:
Format | Description |
*.fig | The native Matlab format (it's actually a *.mat file with plotting information attached). These files can be reloaded into Matlab as figures and edited further |
*.bmp, *.gif, *.png | Bitmap, GIF and Portable Network Graphics (un)compressed lossless image formats. Best for rich colour plots |
*.jpeg | Compress lossless image format, best reserved for non-scientific photographs where pixel-level integrity is not required |
*.eps | The extended postscript file format, a vector graphics file format good for line plots |
The Portable Document Format, a wrapper format where the images are compressed |
- Matlab figures can be saved from the drop-down menu in the specific "Figure" window.
