2.1) Launching MATLAB

  • To launch Matlab on a Windows cluster computer navigate to the "Start Menu" and click on "Matlab" (for example it may say Matlab R2013). If Matlab cannot be found easily then try searching for the term "Matlab" in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu.
  • If you are using Unix/Linux/Mac, open a terminal and type "matlab". If Matlab fails to start, i.e. you receive a "command not found" then it is possible Matlab is not installed on the computer.
  • Alternatively on your Mac, Matlab may be found on the Application menu or Launchpad. The Launchpad can be displayed by pressing key F3. If Matlab is installed its icon will be available for you to click on the Launchpad.
  • If you find Matlab is not available on your machine then you could contact the IT support in your school.
