5.10) From Describing To Formulating

The ODD protocol was originally designed merely for communication (in publications) and the aspiration was: “Once initiated, the protocol will hopefully evolve as it becomes used by a sufficiently large proportion of modelers.”

However it turned out to change your way of formulating and designing ABMs in the first place! Modellers start to think and speak in ODD terms an start to expecting others to speak ODD as well, to better understand what they do and mean.

The ODD protocol is becoming more and more a standard in the ABM community, not only for communicating but increasingly for designing models, or as the authors put it: “We believe that ODD can be the basis for a standard ‘language’ for formulating (and designing) ABMs”
