6.3) Initialisation

Landscape

A simple artificial topography of the landscape (the elevation of each patch) is initialized when the model starts. We assume maximal one house on each patch. Patch-quality is randomly assigned between it’s extreme values. Insolation varies between 300-1300 W/m2 depending on the elevation (reduced by 30% through fog below 50m) and the orientation of the slope (south maximal if no fog and north minimal).

Agents

The turtles represents the house owner and are initialized by creating 5.000 of them and setting them on a random empty patch. Roof-size and interest rate are randomly assigned between their extreme values. PV installations are randomly assigned to 0.1% early adopters and the age of the plant is set to a random value between 0 and PV-lifetime.
