1.1) Starting Point

We assume you have been given access to a Unix or Linux system and you are sitting in front of the computer and have turned it on and logged in. You will see a graphic interface in front of you with some similarity to Microsoft (MS) Windows. For instance, if you are on a Linux computer system then you will see a start button at the bottom left corner and by clicking on it you can access the software on the computer in a similar way to MS Windows.

Using Unix/Linux On Your MS Windows Computer

If you dson't have access to a Unix/Linux computer then you can download a Unix/Linux emulator onto your MS Windows computer from http://mobaxterm.mobatek.net/download.html. Click on the "installer" version and follow the instructions. Once installed, open this version to run a Unix/Linux emulator or your MS Windows computer. Alternatively, you can use Cygwin which will emulate Unix/Linux on an MS Windows computer.
