2.5) Changing The Contents Of A File (cont'd)

Once you hit return you will be returned back to the contents of the file. You can use the arrows to move around in the file and add text to update the file as you wish. Once you are happy it is updated then you need to get out of the file and return to Unix. You do this by pointing the cursor to the file and click on save and then exit emacs. Often people prefer to not use the cursor and so you can alternatively save and exit by holding the ‘ctrl’ button and typing ‘x’ and then ‘c’ again and typing ‘y’ to save the changes or ‘n’ to ignore the changes. You will now be back at the command prompt again and ready to do Unix again.

So now you know how to make files that contain writing or data.

If you plan to use "latex" in the future then you can use emacs to make the latex files.
